The ossia notes in the Tenor Recorder are to assist with any difficulties playing the higher notes, and the ossia notes in the Bass Recorder are to assist with any absence of the low F sharp and any difficulties playing fortissimo.

Programme note:

John Philip Sousa was an American composer and conductor. One of his best-known marches, ‘The Liberty Bell’, was written in 1893. The march was used as the signature tune for the British TV comedy program ‘Monty Python’s Flying Circus’ (1969-74).
